Abstract
This standard specifies the requirements and test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage for heavy-duty vehicle gear oils (GL-5) formulated from refined mineral oils, synthetic oils, or a mixture of the two, with the addition of various additives.
This standard applies to heavy-duty vehicle gear oils (GL-5), which are mainly used in automotive drive axles, particularly suitable for hypoid gears operating under high-speed impact loads, high-speed low-torque, and low-speed high-torque conditions.
