This standard specifies the basic terms of geometrical optics, as well as the terms, definitions, and symbols related to geometrical optics imaging, beam limitation of optical systems, geometrical aberrations, basic elements of geometrical optics imaging, and typical optical systems. This standard is applicable to the design of optical systems, as well as the formulation of standards related to geometrical optics, the preparation of technical documents, and the compilation of textbooks and various publications. Note: The words in square brackets [ ] can be omitted; the words in round brackets ( ) are used not only as explanations but also as alternative words.
