This document specifies other representations of Gregorian calendar dates and times based on the 24-hour system, which are an extension of the representations defined in ISO 8601-1.
This document applies to the representation of dates and times involved in information exchange, as well as the representation of times and time shifts based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
These extensions include:
— Approximate dates, uncertain dates, or unspecified parts of dates;
— Extensions of time intervals;
— Division of a year;
— Setting and selecting calendar dates;
— Grouping time scale units;
— Repetition rules for cyclical time intervals;
— Calculation of dates and times.
This document does not apply to non-Gregorian calendar date representations or non-24-hour time representations. This document does not provide character encodings for date and time representations.
