This document describes a sampling method for obtaining representative natural gas samples, including natural gas and natural gas substitutes delivered to the gas transmission and distribution network.
This document is applicable to on-site sampling of natural gas, with the samples obtained used for measuring and monitoring the gas interchangeability and energy entering the pipeline network. It is particularly suitable for sampling at cross-border and trade handover metering stations. This document is only applicable to the sampling of dry natural gas (single-phase, i.e., the gas typically transported through natural gas pipelines).
This document is not applicable to the sampling of wet gas (two-phase or three-phase).
Note 1: This document does not address safety issues related to gas sampling.
Note 2: This document considers the sampling of specific gases, as described in Appendix A.
