Abstract
This standard specifies the data structure and content of the interface for communication between location-providing devices and location-using devices, so that location-using devices can acquire and clearly interpret location information, and allow users to determine whether the results meet their usage needs. The standardized interface for geographic location information allows the integration of location information obtained by various positioning technologies into various geographic information applications, such as surveying, navigation, and intelligent transportation systems. This standard is applicable to a variety of applications where location information is of great importance.
