This standard specifies the terms and definitions, symbols and units of measurement, principles, instruments and materials, test specimens, test procedures, calculation and expression of results, and accuracy of measurement methods for the water vapor permeability test of building materials and their products. This standard applies to hygroscopic and non-hygroscopic building materials and their products, including materials and products with natural skins or finishes. This standard prescribes different test methods for different materials and their products. This standard is not applicable to the determination of water vapor equivalent air layer thickness of less than 0.1 m in building materials and their products. Note: When the water vapor equivalent air layer thickness of building materials and products is greater than 1,500 m, they can be considered non-wetting.
