GB/T 21404-2008

1.1 This standard specifies the standard reference conditions and power, fuel consumption, and oil consumption of commercial internal combustion engines using liquid or gaseous fuels, as well as the test methods. It can be applied to: a) Reciprocating internal combustion engines (spark-ignited or compression-ignited engines), but not free-piston engines; b) Rotary piston engines. These engines can be naturally aspirated engines or turbocharged engines using mechanical superchargers or turbochargers. 1.2 This standard applies to engines used for the following purposes: a) Land-based, rail traction, and marine engines defined in GB/T 6072.1; b) Automotive engines defined in ISO 1585 and ISO 2534; c) Motorcycle engines defined in ISO 4106; d) Agricultural tractors and machinery engines defined in ISO 2288; e) Earthmoving machinery engines defined in ISO 9294; f) Small ship engines (with a hull length of no more than 24 m) defined in ISO 8665. This standard can also be applied to road construction machinery, industrial trucks, and engines for other purposes for which there are currently no suitable standards. 1.3 Related "satellite" standards provide separate requirements for engines used for specific purposes. Only by using this "core" standard in conjunction with related "satellite" standards can the relevant requirements for engines used for a particular purpose be fully specified.
