This standard defines the most commonly used clinical terms and definitions related to dental implants, instruments, accessories, and implant systems and procedures. The standard does not include transplantation materials and membrane materials.
This standard also does not include the following instruments:
Instruments specifically designed to be placed within the craniomaxillofacial skeleton, or to pass through or be placed on it. The main purpose of these instruments is to serve as a support for orthopedic or prosthetic devices (such as parts of the ear, nose, eye, and eye socket):
——Prosthetic implants;
——Craniofacial implants;
——Maxillofacial implants.
