GB/Z 3836.37-2025 Explosive atmospheres—Part 37:Equipment protection by 2-wire intrinsically safe ethernet concept (2-WISE)
Abstract
This document specifies the structure, marking, and documentation requirements for devices and systems that use the Two-Wire Intrinsically Safe Ethernet (2-WISE) concept.
Note: For example, the physical layer specifications for 10BASE-T1L two-wire Ethernet defined in IEEE 802.3cg-2019.
This document applies to devices and systems that adopt the Two-Wire Intrinsically Safe Ethernet concept.
2-WISE is a concept of the Advanced Physical Layer (APL), designed to simplify the verification process of intrinsically safe parameters of components and wiring within the APL segment. This is achieved by defining common intrinsically safe parameter limits for APL ports, based on specific hazardous area requirements, and listing a set of concise segmentation setting rules.
Components of 2-WISE devices may be protected by any explosion-proof type suitable for EPL in hazardous locations, as listed in GB/T 3836.1. In these cases, the requirements of this document only apply to the intrinsically safe circuits of the device.
This document is used in conjunction with GB/T 3836.1, GB/T 3836.4, GB 3836.15, or GB/T 3836.18.
