This document specifies the minimum requirements for the design, calculation, testing, and installation of mobile cranes on chassis or fixed bases.
This document applies to all new mobile cranes produced one year after its issuance. There is no requirement to modify existing mobile cranes.
This document does not apply to mobile cranes installed on ship decks or floating structures, nor to articulated arm cranes specifically designed as integral parts of specialized equipment (with load-bearing walking equipment).
This document covers all major hazards, dangerous states, or dangerous events related to mobile cranes, except for those caused by foreseeable misuse or malfunctions by the manufacturer. A list of major hazards is provided in Appendix A.
Note: When mobile cranes are used for carrying people, specific national regulations may apply.
