This standard specifies two methods for determining the bulk density of granular refractory materials with a particle size greater than 2.0 mm: -- Method 1: Weighing method; -- Method 2: Burette method. Method 1 is used as an arbitration method. According to the nature of the material being tested, the two methods may yield different results. Therefore, when reporting the bulk density value, it is necessary to specify the method used or the method that should be used in case of disputes. For the volume measurement of the sample, the sampling and sample preparation, the calculation of the bulk density, and the presentation of the test report should all use the same method. This standard applies to the determination of the bulk density, water absorption, and apparent porosity of granular refractory materials.
