Abstract
This section specifies the entity authentication mechanism that uses password verification functions. There are two types of authentication for a single entity (one-way authentication), and the rest are mutual authentication between two entities. The mechanisms specified in this section use time-varying parameters such as timestamps, serial numbers, or random numbers to prevent previously valid authentication information from being accepted again or being accepted multiple times.
