GB/T 15852.3-2019 Information technology—Security techniques—Message authentication codes(MACs)—Part 3:Mechanisms using a universal hash-function
Abstract
This part of GB/T 15852 specifies four message authentication code (MAC) algorithms using hash functions: UMAC, Badger, Poly1305, and GMAC. These algorithms are based on the sequence cipher algorithms specified in GB/T 33133.1-2016 and the block cipher algorithms specified in GB/T 32907-2016, or other sequence cipher algorithms and block cipher algorithms that comply with national regulations. They use a single key and a hash function to process a bit string of length m and output a bit string of length n as the MAC.
This part is applicable to security architectures, processes, and security services of applications. These algorithms can be used as data integrity mechanisms to verify whether data has been modified without authorization. They can also be used as message authentication mechanisms to ensure that the message originates from the entity that holds the key. The strength of the data integrity mechanism and the message authentication mechanism is determined by the following indicators: the length of the key (in bits) and its confidentiality, the length of the hash code generated by the hash function (in bits), the strength of the hash function, the length of the MAC (in bits), and the specific mechanism.
Note: The general framework for providing integrity services is specified in ISO/IEC 10181-6[7].
