This document describes the characteristics of identification cards and their applications in information exchange. It specifies the physical characteristics of identification cards, including the card materials, construction, specifications, and six card sizes. ISO/IEC 103731 and ISO/IEC 247892 prescribe test procedures for checking whether the cards comply with the parameters specified in this document. This document stipulates the requirements for identification cards and card interface devices. It takes into account both human and machine factors and outlines the minimum requirements. The purpose of this document is to provide criteria for evaluating card performance. This document does not consider the usage of the cards prior to testing. This document applies to the design, manufacture, application, and testing of identification cards.
