This section specifies the test conditions, conditioning tests, test procedures, and environmental test markings for salt spray testing.
This section applies to optical instruments, instruments equipped with optical components, and optical components.
The purpose of this test is to evaluate the ability of the instrument's surface and protective coatings (plating) to resist salt spray as early as possible.
