Abstract
This document describes the methods of measuring the power and gain parameters of single-channel optical amplifiers using spectrometers, electrical spectrum analyzers, and optical power meters. This document is applicable to single-channel optical amplifiers and optical amplifier subsystems, including the measurement of power and gain parameters of fiber amplifiers based on rare earth element doping, Raman fiber amplifiers, semiconductor optical amplifiers, and planar lightwave circuit amplifiers.
