This document specifies the technical requirements for laboratory diagnostic methods such as clinical diagnosis of African horse sickness, sample collection and processing, virus isolation and identification, RT-PCR, universal Real-Time RT-PCR, type-specific Real-Time RT-PCR, indirect ELISA antibody detection, and blocking ELISA antibody detection. This document is applicable to the diagnosis, detection, quarantine, monitoring, and epidemiological investigation of AHS in horses, mules, donkeys, and other equidae.
