This document specifies the requirements for functional safety management applicable to the automotive field, including:
—— Requirements for the organizations involved, independent of the project (overall safety management);
—— Project-specific requirements for management activities during the safety lifecycle, such as in the concept phase, product development phase (system level, hardware level, software level), and production, operation, service, and decommissioning.
This document applies to safety-related systems that include one or more electrical/electronic systems installed in mass-produced road vehicles except for light motorcycles.
This document does not apply to specific electrical/electronic systems in special-purpose vehicles, such as vehicle systems designed for disabled drivers.
Note: Other dedicated safety standards can be used as supplements to this document, and vice versa.
Systems and their components that have already completed production release or are being developed before the publication date of this document are not applicable to this document. For systems and their components that have completed production release before the publication of this document, this document tailors the activities of the safety lifecycle based on these changes. When integrating systems developed before the publication of this document with systems developed in accordance with this document, the safety lifecycle activities need to be tailored in accordance with this document.
This document addresses potential hazards caused by functional abnormalities of safety-related electrical/electronic systems, including potential hazards caused by the interaction of these systems. This document does not address hazards related to electric shock, fire, smoke, heat, radiation, toxicity, flammability, reactivity, corrosivity, energy release, etc., unless the hazards are directly caused by functional abnormalities of safety-related electric
