1.1 This part of GB/T 38364 specifies the safety requirements and test methods for rotary blade step-type lawn mowers and roller blade step-type lawn mowers powered by internal combustion engines, including step-type lawn mowers equipped with a passenger seat for the operator (hereinafter referred to as "lawn mowers") and equipped with:
——metal cutting devices, and/or
——non-metal cutting devices consisting of one or more cutting components hinged and mounted on a nearly circular drive device, where the cutting components rely on centrifugal force to achieve cutting, and the cutting energy (kinetic energy) of each cutting component is not less than 10 J.
This part does not apply to:
——robotic and remote-controlled lawn mowers, swing blade (pendulum) lawn mowers, lawn mowers, blade reciprocating lawn mowers, tractor/semi-suspended lawn mowers, and weeders;
——electric lawn mowers and lawn mowers powered by batteries;
——step-type lawn mowers with a flipping handle.
Note: GB 4706.1—2005 and GB/T 4706.78—2005 give requirements for electric lawn mowers with walking control.
1.2 This part involves the major hazards, hazardous situations, and hazardous events related to lawn mowers during normal use and foreseeable misuse by manufacturers (see Appendix A).
1.3 This part does not apply to lawn mowers produced before the publication of this part.
