This document specifies the safety requirements and verification methods for driverless industrial vehicles and their systems.
Driverless industrial vehicles (vehicles in ISO 5053-1) are also known as "automatic guided vehicles", "autonomous mobile robots", "robots", "automatic guided vehicles", "tunnel tractor", "guidance vehicles", etc.
This document also includes the following requirements for driverless industrial vehicles:
—— Require the operator to take action to start or enable the automatic mode of operation;
—— The ability to transport one or more passengers (who are not considered drivers or operators);
—— Allow the operator to manually operate the vehicle in an additional manual mode;
—— Allow the manual operation of the vehicle's functions for maintenance reasons.
This document does not apply to vehicles guided by purely mechanical means (rails, guidance devices, etc.) and remotely controlled vehicles, which are not considered driverless industrial vehicles.
In this document, a driverless industrial vehicle is a motorized industrial vehicle designed for automatic operation. A driverless vehicle system includes a control system, guidance devices, and a power system, which may be part of the vehicle and/or separate from it. This document does not cover power source requirements.
The condition of the operating area has a significant impact on the safe operation of driverless industrial vehicles (hereinafter referred to as "vehicles"). Preparations for the operating area to eliminate related hazards are described in detail in Appendix A.
This document relates to all major hazards, dangerous states, or dangerous events (GB/T 15706—2012, section 5.4) of the vehicle during its life cycle, except for the following cases where the machinery is used under the manufacturer's intended use and under foreseeable conditions of misuse, as listed in Appendix B.
