This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and packaging, packaging marks, transportation, and storage of plastic shopping bags. This standard applies to non-degradable plastic shopping bags made from traditional plastic resins as the main raw material and processed by bag-making techniques such as heat sealing or bonding. This standard also applies to non-degradable shopping bags made from a combination of plastic and other materials (hereinafter referred to as plastic shopping bags). This standard does not apply to plastic bags used solely for packaging purposes and not intended for carrying, such as plastic roll bags (also known as tear-off bags or break-off bags). This standard does not apply to starch-based plastic shopping bags or biodegradable plastic shopping bags.
