1.1 This method uses the principle of air permeability to determine the surface area of metal and its compound powders, as well as the average equivalent spherical particle diameter related to them (range 0.5μm to 50μm). The powders can be tested in their "supply state" or after being dispersed or milled by the laboratory in accordance with the provisions of ASTM B 859. The measured values may not fully reflect the actual condition of the powders, but they are very useful for powder quality control.
1.2 This standard does not address related safety issues. Users should establish appropriate safety and health operating procedures and determine their scope of application before using it.
