GB/T 17888.3-2020 Safety of machinery—Permanent means of access to machinery—Part 3:Stairs,stepladders and guard-rails
Abstract
This part of GB/T 17888 specifies the requirements for non-powered staircases, ladders, and railings that are components of fixed machines, as well as for non-powered adjustable (e.g., foldable, sliding) parts and movable parts on such fixed access facilities.
Note 1: "Fixed" access facilities refer to those that can only be removed with tools after installation (e.g., via screws, nuts, or welding).
The minimum requirements specified in this part also apply to similar access facilities (such as staircases, ladders, and railings) in buildings where machines are installed, provided that the primary function of such facilities is to provide access to the machines.
Note 2: If no other standards exist, this part also applies to access facilities outside the scope of this part.
This part should be used in conjunction with the requirements specified for staircases, ladders, and railings in GB/T 17888.1.
GB/T 17888 applies to fixed machines and mobile machines equipped with fixed access facilities, but not to powered access facilities such as elevators, escalators, or other devices specifically designed for lifting people between two levels.
