GB/T 18329.3-2021 Plain bearings—Metallic multilayer plain bearings—Part 3:Non-destructive penetrant testing
Abstract
This part of GB/T 18329 specifies the non-destructive penetration testing method for determining bearing joining defects and sliding surface defects (i.e., surface discontinuities). This method is suitable for inspecting: a) Joining defects located in the transition zone between the bearing backing and the bearing alloy material on the end face and mating surface of multi-layer sliding bearings, which cannot be inspected by ultrasonic testing according to GB/T 18329.1. b) Sliding surface defects of bearings. Penetration testing is generally conducted after the finishing of multi-layer sliding bearings. The inspection of joining defects is typically applicable to multi-layer sliding bearings whose backing materials are made of steel, cast steel, or cast bronze, and can also be used as an auxiliary inspection method for joining defects in bearing products made of other materials. For bearing backing materials that cannot be tin-plated or are difficult to tin-plate, such as pearlitic special cast iron materials, stainless steel, or cast aluminum, this method cannot be used to inspect joining defects because there is no bonding layer between the bearing backing and the bearing alloy material.
