Abstract
This document specifies the magnetic particle inspection method for surface defects in welds and heat-affected zones of ferromagnetic materials, which is suitable for most welding processes and joint structures. Appendix A describes the factors affecting the detection sensitivity in the basic magnetic particle inspection process.
This document does not specify the acceptable inspection levels. For more information on acceptable inspection levels, please refer to ISO 23278 or product/application standards.
