Abstract
This standard applies to the safety of medical electrical equipment (as defined in 2.2.15). Although this standard primarily addresses safety issues, it also includes some requirements related to reliable operation that are relevant to safety. The safety risks arising from the intended physiological effects of the equipment covered by this standard are not considered. Unless explicitly stated in the main body of the standard, the content of the appendices in the standard is not mandatory for enforcement.
