Abstract
This document specifies the selection, operation, installation location, and coordination principles of SPDs.
This document applies to SPDs connected to circuits and equipment with an AC rated voltage of no more than 1,000 V (rms) and 50/60 Hz. These SPDs must include at least one non-linear component for limiting surge voltages and discharging surge currents.
Note: This document only pertains to SPDs, not to surge protection components (SPCs) integrated into equipment.
