GB/T 18802.331-2024 Components for low-voltage surge protection—Part 331:Performance requirements and test methods for metal oxide varistors(MOV)
Abstract
This document specifies the performance requirements and test methods for metal oxide varistors (MOVs) used in low-voltage surge protectors (SPDs) for protecting equipment and personnel from transient voltage hazards in power, communication, and signal systems with voltages of 1,000 V or less (50 Hz or 60 Hz, RMS) or direct current of 1,500 V or less.
This document applies to single MOVs and MOVs with thermal protection measures (thermal protection varistors, TPVs), but not to MOV combinations connected to other overvoltage protection elements. The characteristics given in this document apply to MOVs installed in accordance with the test method, and not to MOVs installed in other ways that may affect their performance. This document considers thermal protection varistors (TPVs) as not being SPDs.
