This standard specifies a method for determining the steady-state heat transfer properties of cylindrical insulation materials typically used at temperatures above the ambient temperature. This standard specifies the requirements for the test device but does not specify the design of the device. The types of specimens, temperatures, and test environments applicable to this standard are specified in Chapters 5 and 6.
