Abstract

This part of GB/T 1685 specifies two methods for determining the reduction of compression force when vulcanized rubber or thermoplastic rubber is compressed to and maintained in a constant strain state at a cyclic temperature.
Method A: The test temperature alternates between high and low temperatures at fixed intervals. During the high-temperature phase, the aging resistance of the rubber material is evaluated, and during the low-temperature phase, the sealing performance of the rubber material can be evaluated.
Method B: The test temperature alternates continuously between high and low temperatures to induce thermal stress within the rubber material.
The compression force is measured using a continuous measurement system.
The specimens should be of two types: cylindrical and annular. Different shapes and sizes of specimens yield different results, and only specimens of the same shape and size can be compared in terms of test results.
Annular specimens are particularly suitable for measuring stress relaxation in a liquid environment.
