Scope

This standard specifies the determination method of N-methylpyrrolidone (hereinafter referred to as NMP) in lubricating oil—headspace gas chromatography. This standard applies to lubricating oil base oils refined with NMP as a solvent. The detection limit of this standard is 0.18 g/kg to 10 g/kg. This section is not intended to address all safety issues related to its use. It is the responsibility of the user to establish appropriate safety and health measures to ensure compliance with relevant national regulations. Note: NMP has a mild irritating effect on the skin, and chronic exposure can cause dysfunction of the central nervous system and lead to lesions in the respiratory organs, kidneys, and vascular system. The maximum allowable concentration in the workplace is 100 mg/m3. On-site operators should wear masks, protective glasses, and gloves.
