This document specifies the requirements for the validation of arc welding and its external monitoring equipment. This document is also applicable to the actual verification operations of arc welding equipment.
This document can be used for installation and at other times or intervals as deemed appropriate by the user to ensure that the equipment can operate in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications or other applicable norms.
This document is not applicable to:
——Plasma systems used for cutting and gouging;
——Arc ignition and arc stabilization devices;
——Arc welding equipment designed in accordance with IEC 609746.
Note 1: Other components in the welding system, such as robots, rotating devices, and gas path devices, also have an impact on the welding results. These components can be verified if necessary. For more information, see ISO 17662.
Note 2: Periodic inspections and tests of arc welding equipment are described in IEC 60974-4.
This document is applicable to users, service shops, or manufacturers. It can be:
——used independently;
——used in conjunction with the manufacturer's instruction manual; or
——used as the basis for manufacturers to prepare equivalent verification procedures for specific equipment.
