GB/T 21461.1-2008

1.1 This part of GB/T 21461 specifies the naming system for ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (PE-UHMW) thermoplastic materials. This system can be used as a basis for classification. The ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (PE-UHMW) referred to in this part is a polyethylene material with a melt flow rate (MFR) of less than 0.1 g/10 min under the conditions of a temperature of 190 °C and a load of 21.6 kg. 1.2 Different types of PE-UHMW thermoplastic materials are distinguished by a classification system based on the following specified characteristic performance values and recommended uses and/or processing methods, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers, and reinforcing materials: a) Viscosity; b) Tensile stress at elongation; c) Impact strength of a simple beam with a double notch. 1.3 This part applies to all PE-UHMW homopolymers and other copolymers with a monomer content of less than 50% of 1-olefin monomers and a monomer content of not more than 3% of non-olefin monomers with functional groups. This part applies to materials that are typically supplied in powder, granular, or crushed form, either unmodified or modified with colorants, additives, fillers, etc. 1.4 This part does not imply that materials with the same name must necessarily have the same properties. This part does not provide the engineering data, performance data, or processing conditions data needed to explain the special uses and/or processing methods of the materials. If necessary, these additional properties can be determined using the test methods specified in Part 2 of this standard. 1.5 To explain the special uses of a certain PE-UHMW material or to ensure the reproducibility of processing, additional requirements can be given in the fifth character group.
