This part of GB/T 16645 specifies the protocol used by application layer entities to exchange management information. This part stipulates: — The protocol for transmitting management information between application entities; — The abstract syntax and related encoding rules of the common management information protocol used; — The protocol for correctly interpreting protocol control information; — The consistency requirements that must be met to implement this part. This part does not stipulate: — The structure or meaning of the management information sent via CMIP; — The methods for completing management based on the results of CMIP exchanges; — The interactions that lead to the use of CMIP.
