Abstract
This section provides safety requirements and guidelines for the design and integration of safety-related parts (SRP/CS), including software design, in control systems. For these SRP/CS components, this section specifies characteristics including the performance level required to execute safety functions. This section applies to all types of machinery SRP/CS, regardless of the technology and energy used (electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, etc.). This section does not specify safety functions or performance levels in special applications. This section provides specific requirements for SRP/CS using programmable electronic systems. This section does not provide specific requirements for designing SRP/CS components. However, the principles provided, such as category or performance level, can be used.
