Abstract
This section specifies the visual colorimetry and titration methods for determining the reducing potassium permanganate substances in organic chemical products.
The visual colorimetry method in this section is suitable for determining the reducing potassium permanganate substances in neutral, weakly acidic, and weakly alkaline organic chemical products such as alcohols and ketones; the titration method is suitable for organic chemical products with a potassium permanganate index equal to or greater than 10 mg/100 mL and that do not react with potassium permanganate under acidic conditions.
