This document specifies the preparation of metallographic samples of vermicular cast iron, the inspection items, and the grading criteria. This document is applicable to the identification of the graphite morphology in sand-cast vermicular cast iron, as well as the assessment of the vermicular rate, pearlite, phosphorus eutectic, and the quantity and grading of carbides.
