Abstract
This standard specifies the performance requirements for ballasts used in discharge lamps such as high-pressure mercury lamps, low-pressure sodium lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps, and metal halide lamps. Chapters 12 to 15 set out specific requirements for specific types of ballasts. This standard discusses inductive discharge lamp ballasts that use 50 Hz or 60 Hz AC power sources below 1,000 V. The rated power, dimensions, and characteristics of the lamps should all comply with the provisions of the corresponding IEC lamp standards.
