Abstract
This document defines the general terms and definitions related to conformity assessment (including the recognition of conformity assessment bodies) and its application in trade facilitation. Appendix A provides the general principles of conformity assessment and a description of the functional approach to conformity assessment. Conformity assessment is interrelated with other fields such as management systems, metrology, standardization, and statistics. This document does not define the boundaries of conformity assessment.
