GB/T 18029.8-2008

This part of GB/T 18029 specifies in detail the requirements for the static strength, impact strength, and fatigue strength of wheelchairs (including electric mobility scooters) with a user weight not exceeding 100 kg, as well as the test methods and requirements for publishing test results. The aforementioned test methods can also be used to verify the manufacturer's self-defined indicators that exceed the requirements of this part. To compare the performance of adjustable wheelchairs and electric mobility scooters based on their test results, a reference configuration should be specified. This part applies to manually operated wheelchairs and indoor and outdoor electric wheelchairs used by both the user themselves and caregivers. Electric wheelchairs have three or more wheels mounted on two parallel drive axles, with no more than two drive wheels and a speed not exceeding 15 km/h. Note 1: This part does not apply to wheelchairs with wheels mounted on more than two axles (such as diamond-shaped wheel arrangements). Note 2: The provisions of this part can also serve as the basis for extended requirements and test methods for wheelchairs not covered by this standard. Since the maximum weight of the test dummy specified in GB/T 18029.11 is 100 kg, this part only applies to wheelchairs with a maximum user weight of 100 kg. The impact of lifestyles with users weighing more than 100 kg on wheelchairs requires further investigation and research. Note 3: In this part, manually operated wheelchairs and electric wheelchairs (including electric mobility scooters) are collectively referred to as wheelchairs.
