This standard specifies the terms and definitions, system composition and workflow, technical requirements, data communication protocols, civil construction requirements, daily maintenance, fault handling, and marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of highway weigh-in-motion systems for vehicle weigh-in-motion toll collection.
This standard applies to weigh-in-motion systems installed in the weighing areas of highway toll stations, which use the whole-vehicle weighing method to obtain the total mass of vehicles within the specified speed range for weigh-in-motion toll collection. Weigh-in-motion systems set up in other places such as ordinary highway toll stations and over-limit inspection stations can be implemented with reference to this standard.
