Abstract
This standard specifies the definition of contour and the general structure of contact (stylus) instruments used to measure surface roughness and waviness.
This standard also specifies the instrument characteristics that affect contour evaluation and provides basic technical specifications for contact (stylus) instruments (contour meters and contour recorders).
This standard applies to stylus instruments for actual contour evaluation, enabling current national standards to be used for actual contour evaluation.
