Abstract
This standard specifies the functions, performance, and safety requirements for self-propelled passenger stairs used for passengers boarding and disembarking from aircraft cabins.
This standard applies to all common models of passenger boarding stairs used in civil aviation transportation with a cabin threshold height from the ground of more than or equal to 254 m (100 in).
This standard does not specify the design of passenger stairs, but rather sets minimum functional and performance requirements, emphasizing indicators that are crucial for aircraft, equipment manufacturers, airlines, ground service companies, and other stakeholders in the airport environment.
