This document specifies the safety requirements and verification methods for the following types of pedestrian vehicles (hereinafter referred to as "vehicles"), which are equipped with load-handling devices such as forks and platforms for normal industrial use, or integrated attachments for special applications:
——Reach trucks;
——Pallet stackers;
——Industrial vehicles with a lifting capacity of not more than 1,000 kg, either manual or electric (powered by batteries);
——Low-lift pallet trucks with a lifting height of not more than 300 mm and a rated lifting capacity of not more than 2,300 kg;
——Pedestrian scissor lift pallet trucks with a lifting height of not more than 1,000 mm or a rated lifting capacity of not more than 1,000 kg, either manual or electric (powered by batteries).
This document applies to other vehicles that can be operated on solid, flat, level, and paved surfaces, either manually or electrically with lifting capabilities.
Note: On-board battery chargers are considered part of the vehicle. Attachments that can be removed and installed on the load-carrying frame or forks are not considered part of the vehicle.
This document addresses all major hazards, dangerous conditions, and dangerous events listed in Appendix C related to the use of machinery under the manufacturer's intended use and under foreseeable misuse conditions.
