Abstract
This standard specifies the method for determining the content of maleic acid and maleic anhydride in food simulants.
This standard is applicable to the determination of the content of maleic acid and maleic anhydride in four food simulants, namely water, 3% (mass concentration) acetic acid solution, 10% (volume fraction) ethanol solution, and olive oil.
The lower limit for the determination of maleic acid in three water-based food simulants, namely water, 3% (mass concentration) acetic acid solution, and 10% (volume fraction) ethanol solution, is 3.0 mg/L, and the lower limit for the determination of maleic acid in olive oil is 3.0 mg/kg, with maleic anhydride being calculated based on maleic acid.
