Abstract
This standard specifies the basic safety requirements for the design, manufacture, installation, modification, maintenance, use, and inspection of simple elevators.
This standard applies to traction-type, forced-type, rack-and-pinion-type, and direct-acting hydraulic-type simple elevators. Simple elevators of other structural types may be used as reference for application.
