GB 50011-2010 Code for seismic design of buildings
GB 50011-2010 Code for seismic design of buildings
Basic Information
Scope
In order to implement the national laws and regulations on construction projects and earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, and to adhere to the principle of prevention-first, so that buildings can be protected against earthquakes and reduce earthquake damage to buildings, avoid casualties, and reduce economic losses, these specifications are formulated. For buildings designed according to these specifications, the basic goals of earthquake protection are: when subjected to the influence of a frequent earthquake with an intensity lower than the seismic fortification intensity of the local area, the main structure shall not be damaged or require repair and can continue to be used; when subjected to the influence of a seismic fortification earthquake equivalent to the seismic fortification intensity of the local area, damage may occur, but it can still be used after general repair; when subjected to the influence of a rare earthquake with an intensity higher than the seismic fortification intensity of the local area, it shall not collapse or cause serious damage that endangers lives. For buildings with special requirements in terms of use or other aspects, when adopting performance-based seismic design, they shall have more specific or higher goals of earthquake protection.
