Scope
Main technical content: This document specifies the performance of wheeled probes for orbital ultrasonic testing equipment, the performance of ultrasonic detectors, and the detection methods for their comprehensive performance. The performance of wheeled probes specified in this document includes echo frequency, sound axis deviation angle, refraction angle of oblique probes, resolution, sound beam width, and echo amplitude within the wheel. The performance of ultrasonic detectors specified in this document includes sound path measurement error, vertical linearity error, and blocking range. The comprehensive performance specified in this document includes sensitivity margin, distance-amplitude characteristics, static detection sensitivity, signal-to-noise ratio, and defect detection capability. This document specifies the requirements for inspection personnel, inspection (auxiliary) equipment, coupling agents, inspection procedures, original records, and inspection reports. This document is applicable to the detection methods for the working performance of ultrasonic testing equipment used to detect defects in railway tracks (rails) using wheeled probes (single probe method or dual probe method).
