Scope

This standard specifies the test equipment and procedures for measuring shear performance. This standard is applicable to insulation products. Note: The method specified in this standard is not used to measure pure shear performance, but to evaluate the impact of two parallel and oppositely directed loads on the two main planes of the specimen. However, this standard still refers to it as a "shear" test. Compared with other methods of testing shear performance, such as the bending test method, applying shear loads on the two main planes of the specimen can better reflect the stress state of insulation products in building applications, especially on walls.
