Scope
This standard specifies the reference model, service bearing capacity, and performance indicators of the Ethernet-based passive optical network (EPON) system with a transmission rate of gigabits per second, as well as requirements for interface types (CT), system functions and protocols, operation and maintenance management, and electrical safety of equipment. It also provides detailed specifications for the PMD sublayer, RS sublayer, and MPCP and OAM protocols of the EPON system.
This standard is applicable to EPON equipment in public telecommunications networks, and private telecommunications networks can also refer to it for use.
